New Year's Clearing & Blessing Ritual - Pay What You Can

On New Year's Eve, billions of people will be counting down, focused on saying goodbye to the old and welcoming in the new, taking various actions to procure blessings and good luck for themselves and their loved ones, and then cheering and celebrating and wishing each other well for the new year. 

They may do it with more or less sincerity, more or less sobriety, more or less ritual, more or less introspection or resolve or concern for their neighbors, but even if a significant portion of these people could be said to just "go through the motions" on New Year's Eve traditions, that's still an enormous number of human beings all aligning themselves in the same general direction, all over the globe, within a moderately tight timeframe.

That's a lot of real-time human energy. This ceremony is designed to take advantage of that and help you hitch your petitions a ride into 2026 on this global energetic wave. 

How it Works

While this part is optional, you can grab a free printable copy of a little workbook designed to help you review your year and think about what you want to let go of and what you want to hang on to, should you find that helpful. I've used the YearCompass workbook for a few years now and I really like it. It's a great idea and a great tool.

Clearing: Identify and articulate what you want to clear away or say goodbye to, what you intend to leave behind in the past as you face forward towards a new year. It might be nasty people, negativity, grudges, habits, mindsets, memories, states of mind, whatever.

You can even go into purge mode and just write it all down - get it all out, everything you want to get off your chest, everything you've been holding on to or holding your tongue about. 

Send your statement to me in written text format, or as a photo or a sigil or symbol, whatever makes sense to you, for consigning to the bonfire before midnight.

Blessing: Identify and articulate what you want to invite, invoke, focus on, adopt, do more of, or dedicate yourself to for the upcoming year. Send it to me in written text format or as a photo, sigil, symbol, or whatever makes sense to you.

I will use the information you submit with this booking to create the paper packets for the service. First there's the Clearing segment of the service, which will take place shortly before midnight at a sacred fire, during which I'll be burning whatever words or symbols you've submitted to indicate or represent those things you are Clearing from your life.

Next, for the Blessing segment, I'll be ritually opening the door and calling in Blessings, again using whatever words or symbols you've submitted.

I'll set a Blessing offertory light for each participant and then draw a card to give you insight and a focus for meditation for the coming year. Your card for the year will be posted to the client Discord server and a hand-painted talisman will be snail-mailed to you. (This will ship like an ordinary greeting card, with a normal stamp and therefore without tracking.)

Prior to and during all of this, you are invited to join the client Discord server and ask any questions, participate in any discussions, and use any resources made available there, such as an outline of First Footing traditions from around the world, advice on what to eat for New Year's luck, and traditions on what to avoid doing. 

Pay What You Can

This service is available under the Pay What You Can model. If you can't comfortably afford the regular rate, feel free to book the reduced rate; it's there to help people on a tight budget access helpful services.

If you can comfortably afford to book the extra donation rate and would like to pay it forward, your generosity will help offset the costs I'm absorbing for clients who need to book the reduced rate.
