Black Cat Bone Oil and Refills
This listing is for a half-ounce bottle of Black Cat Bone Oil, containing appropriate essential oils, herbs, and curios, including a chip of real black cat bone and a pinch of black cat hair. The "mother" bottle from which your oil will be poured contains a real, whole black cat leg bone - a leg bone from my first, very own, personal set of cat bones that I got and prepared in the early '90s and have been working with ever since. Seriously old-school, backwoods juju.
This oil is popular with gamblers and is also used generally for good luck charms and to change luck. It can be used to dress a black cat bone you have working for another purpose, just like you might use Lodestone Oil to dress a lodestone. Through the ages, it's also been used for uncrossing and for return of a lost lover.
Like the black hen, the black cat is a multivalent figure in conjure, and the materia magica associated with it tends to be multi-purpose, depending on the intentions and preparation of the worker.
*PLEASE NOTE* It is the cat bone that makes this oil so expensive - each bottle contains a real chip of black cat bone, and these things are hard to get. Cat bones don't go bad, so be sure not to throw your old bottle away when there's nothing left but the herbs and bone. You can get a "refill bottle" that is just the blended essentials oils, no added herbs or curios, which you can simply pour into your empty bottle. So you can refill your original bottle for a fraction of the cost of your initial investment.
I never know when I will be lucky enough to get more bones through my various sources, as I don't purchase them unless I can be 100% sure they were obtained ethically. I do not practice or condone the killing of animals simply for harvesting their bones.
Sometimes my ability to get more of a certain type of bone will depend on how quickly I can get to a spot in another state that someone in my network called to tell me about. Sometimes it's having money at the right time, or something else someone values enough for trade, or finding out that your old friend from grade school is dating a vet tech now. Bottom line, supply is just unpredictable.
So this doesn't come from a manufacturer in an envelope that says "Alleged" anything, and you won't find me with dozens of them in stock. You won't order a cat bone from me and get a chicken bone instead, and you won't receive materia magica created through the use of torture or cruelty, because I only get and use bones where I can be 100% positive the cat died of natural causes, complete accident, or was gently and lovingly euthanized due to illness or old age.
It has taken me decades to build up my connections for getting these, and I am always on the lookout for new connections because things can change with old ones, too, but I just don't have a steady supply as I won't obtain them from untrustworthy/unknown sources. (I can't tell you how many emails and blog comments I've gotten saying "Hey, I have black cat bones, you interested?" No, Bubba, I'm not interested, because some people have no ethics, and if I don't know you, I'm not going to assume you're one of the good ones with no evidence.)
Those familiar with the legendary grimoires will probably have heard of a black cat bone used to make its bearer invisible. The preparation of that bone involves boiling the cat alive and obtaining the one special bone from its body that allegedly has this power.
The bone I've got here will not render you invisible and there is no cat-boiling involved in the retrieval of this bone. If you want to do this well-known invisibility spell, you're on your own. Purchasing a black cat bone already de-catted will not do the trick, and I will not help you do spells that require torturing an animal.
(I would point out, though, that there are plenty of ways to get around this kind of thing if you are well-versed in the traditions and can think outside the box. We don't use mercury in hoodoo anymore because now we know it's toxic, but we can still do the old nutmeg gambling charms - we just have to know what we're doing and what makes sense within the paradigm. Sometimes there are substitutions. Sometimes it demands a whole new ritual. Sometimes there's a way to "hoodoo up" a curio so that it has the same power as the old school one even though the process of getting it has had to change a little bit. My point is that you don't need to go around boiling cats. It's completely unnecessary in addition to being totally monstrous.)
There is a less well-known tradition involving black cat bones that I personally practice and subscribe to that does not appear to spring from European witchcraft traditions like the invisibility trick does. A necklace of ritually prepared black cat leg bones is worn by some members of a certain rank in what I would characterize as a rural Southern witch cult that verifiably had historic membership in the Southeastern United States up through at least the mid-1990s (Alabama, Georgia, and Louisiana for sure, Mississippi almost certainly, though I didn't personally interview or meet anyone from there).
I interviewed members of this group from Alabama and Georgia in the early '90s who said that the necklace confers its wearer protection from psychic and especially dream-based attack and empowers workings of necromancy and communication with spirits and the dead.
I've been carrying a black cat leg bone since the early '90s, and it's not because I'm a big gambler. I have found them to be quite effective for spiritual protection, at least if prepared and treated/maintained properly. You can read more about them, how I get them and use them, and what some clients and customers have used them for by following the tags at Big Lucky Hoodoo (or you can get there from the Education link up top).
Obviously I make no claim or guarantees about any supernatural outcomes from the black cat bone involved here or the oil it's in. This is a curio sold for educational/historical purposes only. But I can guarantee that it is in fact real and was in fact harvested non-violently. And the bone chips used in the bottles of oil decanted from the mother bottle are quite clean, perfectly sanitary, and residue-free.
Half-ounce bottle.
LEGALESE: As required by law, all items are sold as curios to preserve and teach the traditions of folklore and popular religion. I don't sell anything I don't use myself, though, and quite a few customers over the years have sworn by my traditional formulas since I started selling them in 2002.
