Delicate, discreet necklace features a tiny sterling silver St. Therese of Lisieux medal, double-sided, cast new from an antique Italian original that dates from the late 19th or early 20th century. This dainty charm is about 9mm across.

Paired with a sterling silver key charm surmounted with a crown to recall St. Peter's keys to heaven, the medal hangs from a 16" sterling silver chain. This piece has acquired some patina since I made it, which I currently have left alone, because I prefer some patina to a totally shiny sterling silver piece of jewelry. But please let me know your preference when checking out - I'll happily polish it back to shiny for you, or I'll happily send it along as is looking vintage and well-loved.

St. Therese, known affectionately by her many devotees as the Little Flower, made love the central tenet of her spiritual practice and her life. You could essentially call her the patron saint of hidden sacrifices. She is petitioned by those who need love and compassion to be shown to them as well as those who need to better show love and compassion in their lives.

She wrote, "I prefer the monotony of obscure sacrifice to all ecstasies. To pick up a pin for love can convert a soul."

So those who spend much time caring for others, even knowing much of their work and devoted labor will go unrecognized and unappreciated, often find an ally and a comfort in St. Therese and her quiet life of determined service and hidden sacrifice. (This would be pretty much every mother I've ever met and anyone who keenly feels the inequity of the division of labor in their living situation.)

All spiritual and devotional pieces are made with care and intent with respect to traditional origins, lore, and practices, all of which I'm happy to answer questions about.
