Ganesh Chaturthi Service - New Beginnings, Success, Road Opening: Sep 19, 2023
Ganesh Chaturthi is essentially the birthday celebration of the Lord Ganesh, aka Ganesha or Ganapati, beloved Hindu deity of new beginnings, wisdom, prosperity, and success. He's called upon to remove obstacles and open roads.
Ganesh Chaturthi is a 10-day festival in India, which I celebrate (on a much smaller scale!) here in Alabama. Smaller scale or no, it's still rather elaborate with lights, flowers, prayers, incense, and a fairly complex array of food offerings. Your petition, prayer, or thanks to Lord Ganesh will be presented along with lights and offerings in your name daily for the duration of the festival.
Work begins Tuesday, September 19th, but since this service will be performed daily for the entire 10 days of the traditional festival, it's fine to join up late as long as you see slots still available.
It's fine to book this on behalf of someone else, but please do stick to one petition/intention/issue per booking.
What's This For?
Participants receive a link to my client calendar and are invited to a private Discord chat.
Pay What You Can
Because the last few years have been so difficult for so many, I'm offering this as a pay what you can service.
If you can pay the regular rate, great!
If things are looking up for you and you can afford to pay the extra donation rate, or you want to make a donation to fulfill a vow of offering to a saint or spirit, that donation rate helps offset some of the costs I'm absorbing otherwise.
But if not, no worries - if you or someone you know needs Ganesh's blessings but money's tight, it's fine to book the reduced rate option - that's what it's there for. As long as I have a solid handful of participants and I can at least break even on materials used/consumed in performing the work, I don't mind donating some of my time and resources to help folks who are in a tight spot and need some help.
How It Works
Once I've got everything set up, I'll send out a notification email that will contain an invitation to the client Discord server if you'd like to join. That's where in-progress photos and discussion can happen. (I don't discuss workings in progress or send updates on an individual basis to participants in community altar work, but I will join a conversation or answer questions that are posed on the client Discord server. And I've made various resources available to interested folks there as well - spells, prayers, suggestions for at-home/DIY activities, occasionally even free graphics you can download and print to have your own vigil light label or prayer card.)
At the conclusion of the work, photos will be posted to the Discord server. I do not send out individual reports on community altar work services, but I will happily answer any questions or join any conversations that are begun among participants in the Discord.
