Virgin Mary Immaculate Heart Shrine Ornament, Vintage Patina
Black and white image of the Virgin Mary, a reproduction of an antique holy card, is framed with hand-hammered and folded tinplate and vintage paper lace. Findings are also reclaimed from vintage scrap from the long-neglected storage of a retired lampmaker, which is where the old chandelier crystal comes from, as well (and it *is* crystal, not glass).
Antique gold glaze elevates the tinplate, tiny metal "gems" provide just a hint of shine, and the tea-dyed paper lace, which is at least 20 years old, has been sealed for durability.
Tinplate body is 2.5" high by 1.25" wide. Accounting for the lace and the crystal (but ignoring the chain), the whole piece is just over 4" high and 1.75" wide.
While this and all my tinplate work is filed/sanded carefully to remove sharp protrusions and corners, you should still keep in mind what it's made of and thus keep it away from children or pets.
Folks use these as altar or household art, Christmas tree ornaments, gifts, and sometimes even jewelry. I love to do custom work, so message me if you have an idea for a variation you'd like to see.
